1. Our commitment

We’re a small business with a small footprint, but technology has a real environmental cost through energy, hardware and waste. We commit to reducing our own impact and to helping our customers reduce theirs, in practical, measurable ways.

2. Scope

Inforge’s own operations, the services we deliver, and the advice we give customers.

3. What we do

3.1 In our own operations

  1. Remote first. We support customers remotely wherever we can, which cuts travel. When we travel, we combine site visits and choose lower-emission transport where practical.
  2. Cloud, not server rooms. We run our business in efficient public cloud services instead of on-premises servers.
  3. Paperless by default. Quotes, agreements, invoices and documentation are digital.
  4. Hardware that lasts. We buy business-grade devices with long support lives, keep them in use for as long as they stay secure and productive, and repair before replacing.
  5. Responsible disposal. Retired equipment is reused, refurbished or recycled through certified e-waste recyclers, with secure data destruction certificates. Nothing goes to landfill if it can be avoided.
  6. Suppliers. Where price and quality are comparable, we prefer suppliers with credible environmental commitments.

3.2 For our customers

  1. Right-size, don’t oversell. We recommend only the hardware, licences and cloud resources a customer actually needs.
  2. Clean up waste. We identify and remove unused cloud resources, idle virtual machines and unused licences as part of regular reviews.
  3. Extend device life. We help customers plan device refreshes around real need and support lifecycles, not sales cycles.
  4. Lower-impact options. When designing cloud solutions, we consider efficient services and regions, and auto-shutdown for non-production resources.
  5. Responsible disposal. We arrange certified e-waste recycling and data destruction for customer equipment on request.

4. Compliance

We comply with all applicable environmental laws and regulations, including Queensland requirements for e-waste disposal.

5. Measuring progress

Each year we record and review:

  • Business travel distance by vehicle and by air
  • Devices bought, redeployed and recycled
  • Cloud resources and licences removed from customer environments as waste
  • Any environmental incidents or complaints

6. Responsibilities

  • Director: owns this policy, sets yearly improvement goals and reports on progress.
  • All staff and contractors: follow this policy and suggest improvements.

7. Review

This policy is reviewed every year, or sooner if our operations change significantly.
